Ministry of Caring, Inc. - Guardian Angel Child Care, Teacher's Aide (Direct Service)
Wilmington, DE - The Guardian Angel Child Care Center allows low-income parents to maintain their
employment knowing that their children are safe and well-cared for.  In addition, the center offers an array of health care, family counseling, parenting assistance and remedial services are available.  The Volunteer works with young children in the classroom, develops and implements lesson plans, assists children during mealtime, assists with record-keeping and accompanies children to extracurricular activities.  Some children have special needs and need specialized attention.  Three college credits in child development and three in early childhood education required.  www.ministryofcaring.org

Wilmington, DE - The Child Care Center provides day care services to homeless families.  Because homelessness has a tremendous impact on the stability of a child's life, The Child Care Center is particularly important as a source of stability for the preschool children it serves.  The Volunteer works with young children in the classroom, develops and implements lesson plans, assists children during mealtime, assists with record-keeping and accompanies children to extracurricular activities.  Three college credits in child development and three in early childhood education required.  www.ministryofcaring.org

Ministry of Caring, Inc. - Samaritan Outreach, Staff Worker (Direct Service)
Wilmington, DE - Samaritan Outreach provides intensive coordinated case management, nutrition education, housing assistance, health care and substance abuse referrals, and clothing distribution to sheltered and unsheltered homeless persons throughout New Castle County.   The Volunteer conducts client intake interviews, makes appropriate referrals to other programs, performs follow up with clients, helps with food distribution, and conducts street outreach to unsheltered homeless individuals.  Case management experience helpful, but not required. www.ministryofcaring.org

Nativity House, Program Staff Member (Direct Service)
Tacoma, WA - As a place of respect and welcome, Nativity House provides day shelter, meals, community and personal assistance to homeless people. We intend that all who pass through our doors?guests, staff, and the wide circle of community volunteers who serve here?will be moved toward greater life. Our mission is rooted in the teachings and deeds of Jesus as expressed in the Gospels. The Volunteer, along with other program staff, is responsible for running the daily operations of the drop-in center which includes guest interaction, building relationships, resourcing referral services, and offering emergency mediation and informal counseling. Program staff members share in the facilitation of all services, which include providing meals and clothing, art therapy, and a street newspaper. Other responsibilities include daily de-briefing sessions, daily cleaning and maintenance, and weekly staff meetings, prayer and liturgies. The position calls for an energetic and compassionate person who is able to handle intense situations and maintain a close working relationship with other staff. A strong sense of the dignity of each human being is the most important. Skills in listening and communication are essential; some fluency in Spanish is helpful.  www.nativityhouse.org

Grace Lutheran & St. Luke's Lutheran, Community Outreach Associate (Community Organizing)
Omaha, NE - Grace Lutheran Church and St. Luke's Lutheran Church are two South Omaha congregations interested in developing closer ties to the ethnically diverse community around their churches. Some programs have been in place at Grace for several years while St. Luke's is just starting to reach out to the community. A volunteer would become a community outreach connection to explore the felt needs of the neighbors and connect the community and congregation through targeted ministry opportunities. A volunteer would seek to expand current ministry efforts with engagement of the community. Applicants should be self-motivated and interested in grassroots organizing. The Development Fellow is an essential member of the Development department, supporting the life-blood of our organization by working with the department that secures funding for our organization. In providing direct support to the Chief Philanthropic Engagement Officer and working closely with the Development department staff and other departments throughout the organization, the Development Fellow receives comprehensive and hands-on experience in fundraising from individual and institutional funders. The support provided by the Fellow allows WFN to fund the programs then offered to our global network of member funds.

Central Area Neighborhood Development Organization (CANDO), Neighborhood Organizer (Community Organizing)
Twin Cities, MN - Central Area Neighborhood Development Organization (CANDO) is a citizen-participation organization in a diverse, inner-city neighborhood with a long history of grassroots activism.  CANDO builds an active, effective organization for residents to engage in issues of concern to them under the headings of community leadership, economic development and housing & land use. The volunteer builds participation in CANDO’s community leadership program by recruiting and organizing volunteers, expanding a well-established and active advisory committee, starting block clubs, and guiding volunteers as they allocate city resources for the benefit of the neighborhood as a whole.  The volunteer uses social media and other means to draw young people, people of color, and low- and moderate-income people into neighborhood affairs in ways that promote social justice and strengthen CANDO as an organization. The job is a highly-visible, front-office, people-person position with a wide range of issues and competing priorities.  The volunteer must be a quick study and a sound communicator, able to work with people from a broad variety of backgrounds, able to plan and prioritize his or her work on a daily basis, and able to write concise, readable material quickly.  www.candompls.org

Neighborhood House, Basic Needs Specialist (Direct Service)
Twin Cities, MN - The mission of Neighborhood House is helping people, families and organizations develop the skills, knowledge and confidence to thrive in diverse communities.   This is done in partnership with individuals and organizations by meeting essential human needs, facilitating active participation in community life, and providing access to additional community resources and programs, all in ways that help people maintain their language and culture.  The volunteer conducts intake interviews, assists participants in obtaining resources that can help them acquire self-sufficiency, assists in the coordination of food shelf operations, and trains and supervises senior aids.  The volunteer must be able to lift 30 pounds, should enjoy working in a fast-paced environment with many diverse participants, and have the ability to drive a 12-16 passenger van.   Fluency in Spanish, Somali, or Hmong is required. AIDS Foundation of Chicago, Development Assistant (Indirect Service)
Chicago, IL - Since 1985, the mission of the AIDS Foundation has been to provide leadership in marshalling public and private resources to care for people living with HIV/AIDS and to prevent the further spread of the epidemic. The Volunteer is an integral part of the Development Department, assisting in the planning of events and researching and developing grant proposals for foundation and corporate support. He or she needs to be able to work independently on multiple tasks and see each project through to completion. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail are desired. Growing Power, Inc., Growing Just Food Systems Intern (Community Organizing)
Chicago, IL - Growing Power is a national nonprofit organization and land trust supporting people from diverse backgrounds, and the environments in which they live, by helping to provide equal access to healthy, high-quality, safe and affordable food for people in all communities.  Growing Power implements this mission by providing hands-on training, on-the-ground demonstration, outreach and technical assistance through the development of Community Food Systems that help people sustain self-reliance and food security. Our Place DC, Legal Assistant (Direct Service)
Washington, DC - Our Place DC supports women who are or have been in the criminal justice system by providing the resources they need to maintain connections with the community, resettle after incarceration, and reconcile with their families. Our Place helps women remain drug and alcohol free, obtain decent housing and jobs, gain access to education, secure resources for their children, and maintain physical and emotional health. We advocate on behalf of women to improve release conditions, link women to important resources, and educate women to be their own advocates in every facet of their lives.  The Legal Advocate helps coordinate legal education, referral, and representation for women who are formerly and currently incarcerated and criminal matters including but not limited to family law, public benefits, parole/supervised released, domestic & sexual violence, housing, employment, and access to health care.  Must have ability to work independently, communicate effectively (written and oral) with various agency officials, and conduct legal research and analysis.  www.ourplacedc.org
