Monday Links

I haven't been writing as much as I'd like lately, especially since I became a dad. At least this blog has been useful of late in linking to my new sermon podcast, but I'd like to get back to actual writing at some point. Today I just want to link to a few articles / stories / resources about which I'd like to say more, but don't have the time to dive in as much as I'd like.

* An NPR story from this morning about how religious professionals think about death, featuring my dear, brilliant friend Rev. Danielle Tumminio and my former professor Dr. Kristen Leslie

* A church "building project" that makes a difference

* On non-violence and the Kingdom of God. This excerpt sums up a lot of what runs through my mind when preparing sermons.

* About love songs and God, among other things: "[U]ultimately the love songs exist to fill, with language, the silence between ourselves and God, to decrease the distance between the temporal and the divine."

* My alma mater engages in serious and long-overdue discussion about race. Along with so many, I seek a more just future with regard to race, but recognize tremendous obstacles and struggles in the way. I am hopeful that such conversations can build a base of understanding as we move forward together.

That's it for now. Blessed Advent, folks!
